
Georges-Ivo Ekosse Ekosse PhD, DTech, FAAS is a Phenomenal Leader in many respects. He is a Cameroonian who has visited, lived, studied, and worked in several countries in the World. He practised Partisan Politics at Cell, Branch, Sub-section, and Section Levels and was elected to local Leadership Positions in the Ruling Political Party in his country. He was also elected and served as Municipal Councillor in one of the Urban Councils.
In Religious/Spiritual Leadership, he has been Campus and City Fellowship Leader and recognised Spiritual Leader on several itinerant Ministerial Assignments. He is an experienced National, and Continental Leader in Higher Education, Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation; a Senior Professor of Applied Clay Mineralogy and Environmental Geology; South Africa National Research Foundation (NRF) C1 rated Researcher; and served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor responsible for Teaching and Learning at University of Botswana.
In the past, he was the X-ray Diffraction Scientist in same university over one and a half decades ago; Adjunct Research Professor of one of Kenya’s State Universities and a University in South Africa; Director of Research Development and Innovation in a couple of universities in South Africa; and Coordinator of Geology, Mining and Minerals Programs in another South African University. Senior Professor Ekosse is Fellow and Former Secretary General: African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and Member of its Membership Committee on Space, Earth, and Environmental Sciences; Life Member: Geological Society of Africa (GSAf); Member: Soil Science Society of Southern Africa (SSSSA), and Association Internationale Pour l’Étude des Argiles (International Association for the Study of Clays) (AIPEA). .
He has been an Independent Expert, Working Group on Extractive Industries, Environment and Human Rights in Africa of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) of the African Union (AU); Subject Matter Expert in Mining and Water of the World Bank/Association of African Universities (WB/AAU) Regional Africa Higher Education Centres of Excellence for Development Impact (ACE Impact); Panel Reviewer: Doctoral Degrees in South African Universities, Council on Higher Education (CHE) South Africa; Deputy Chairperson of Limpopo Research Forum (LRF); Chairperson for ad hoc University Task Teams; and a very successful research fund raiser.
He passionately assists, trains, supervises, promotes, and mentors several postgraduate, master’s and doctoral students, postdoctoral research fellows, and emerging researchers, some having progressed to professors. He is a Continental Leader of African Clays and Clay Minerals Research; and has authored/co-authored over 370 scientific publications including ten books. He possesses governance and boardroom experiences having served in diverse Regional, National and Pan African Bodies, Institutes, Boards and Organisations.
